Jerry is a dedicated resident of Salida, Colorado, with a strong background in engineering and a passion for community involvement. With an Engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and 17 years of experience at IBM, where he excelled as a project manager in laser printer development, Jerry brings a wealth of technical expertise to his pursuits. He has authored numerous engineering journal articles, conference papers, and owns licensed software. In addition to his professional achievements, Jerry has been actively engaged in community service and leadership roles.
Since relocating to Salida in 2005, Jerry has been an active and dedicated community member. He served as a board member of the Friends of the SteamPlant for seven years, taking on responsibilities such as fundraising, bookkeeping, and overseeing performance production. Additionally, for a decade, he passionately assumed the role of head chef at the Salida Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Jerry's commitment to community service extends to financial expertise. He has worked as a tax preparer at HR Block and volunteered with the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where he assisted in preparing individual tax returns.
Jerry's commitment to election integrity was sparked during the 2020 election when he sought to become a poll watcher. His dedication to the cause led him to discover that Chaffee County had not been recording surveillance video in ballot counting rooms since 2016. His advocacy prompted the County to remodel these rooms, installing new surveillance cameras and enhancing security.
In his leisure time, Jerry enjoys mountain life with his wife in their strawbale home, produces electronic music, and takes long walks with his dog.
